Macy Todd – A Sensual Voice With A Lot Of Character

She’s a Lady,
She’s got Soul
She’s got character
She’d rock your world
Greatly inspired by the Soul from the 70’s, Atlanta singer Macy Todd incorporates sounds similar to the likes of Lee Fields & Th Expressions, Amy Winehouse, Paloma Faith and Macy Gray.
After the success of her debut single I’ve Got A Feeling that gathered up over 600K streams since last year, she now releases her sophomore single “Give It Up”.
The track sets up a powerful beginning with the echoe of raw and impulsive vocals followed by the sample of the horn sections. The sound engineer, drums beat and transitions give the song its overall pop sound.
Suggestive and impressive, you can tell Macy Todd’s got Soul; she’s got a voice with character. At 21 years old only, she’s unveiling a great potential and sounds already mature.
Give It Up is the fine result of her collaboration with her longtime producer Dan Hannon (Manchester Orchestra, A Rocket To The Moon) who was recovering from surgery to remove a cancerous lesion from his vocal cords.
The stunning story behind this brand new hit, is how Hannon decided to he whisper-sing the single to Macy on a call, despite his doctors telling he wwasn’t allowed to speak for three days due to the operation.
A great story for a great songwriting, and instrumental production, very creative and surprising.
