The Naked Eye – The Soul Of A Frenchie In The Heart Of London
She blinks at the first lights of the dawn,
Reminiscing, out of Burned memories,
About that Sweet Boy that once winked at her,
Awakened her love, she rose awareness of her weaknesses.
And when they gather then embrace each other,
She pictures in her mind the beat of his heart:
The color of their Soul seems visible to The Naked Eye .
Morning comes with the souvenir of a kiss of his on the pink of her cheek
The kind of chick to drift, through a never-ending dream,
Floating along the River Of No Return, phantasmagorical journey,
This little dreamer may never wake up and open her eyes to reality again.
The Naked Eye is a collaborative project that gathers talented songwriters based in the center of London, involved in the recording of songs written from the heart.
The singer, a Frenchie, based in London, makes a name for herself with original material, covers and rendition perfectly performed.
The latest has been her collaboration with critically acclaimed Marie Dahlstrøm, easily one of the best artists ever introduced on Sounds So Beautiful.
Marie Dahlstrøm is a literal synonymous for perfection when it comes to smooth harmonies, calm and peaceful vocals, mellow instrumentation… musical cloud nine.
They both made a cover of ‘Little Dreamer’ by LION BABE. They did so well, the band itself had to give their warm feedback.
By listening to this cover, we realize that The Naked Eye is not far from being as talented as Marie Dahlstrøm: their voices match perfectly.
She recently released her debut EP, a collection of heart-felt songs, rich and complex compositions, all set for one of a kind experience.
The artistic vision for the project Naked Eye is quite interesting.
Fusing Jazz, alternative electronic and soul. The broken beat, unexpected ruptures and different movements in her songs make it her distinctive.
This experimental way to write her songs recall the style of Hiatus Kaiyote, whose singer counts among The Naked Eye’s inspirations, believing one of her interviews.
You can feel Nai Palm’s influence over the waves in her voice.
Another element to point out, the theme of the water. Water is omnipresent in her self-titled EP.
“Drifting through a dream”, “floating” “river of no return”, “you are the water”, “let me bathe in you”
This allow to smoothly introduce and intertwine the ideas of dreams, fantasy, even eroticism.
The lyrics are so honest and open-hearted, like a diary, it feels you can read her thoughts and emotions to the naked eye, no secret left.
Talking about one of her latest collaboration, she says:
“to me as it’s about standing up for myself and turning a hurtful experience into something positive, with a self empowering spin. I guess it’s about not letting those vibe vampires bring you down!
Finally the diversified instrumentation suggest some kind of je-ne-sais-quoi imaginative, even surrealist.
Let’s end the day with a few of a short series of bedroom recording:
