R’n’B and Self Love with Gaby K | Interview

R&B-pop singer-songwriter Gaby K announces the release of her debut EP ‘Get To Love You’, out everywhere on 9th February.

The EP features already released singles ‘What Have I Done’, ‘I’m Good’ and EP cornerstone ‘My Girls’, Gaby has already received widespread praise from the likes of Earmilk, Spindle, Wordplay Magazine, Ones To Watch and many more.

Naming artists like Amy Winehouse, Jessie Reyez and Amber Mark as her biggest inspirations, Gaby draws from her combined influences, as well as elements of R&B, soul and pop to create her distinctively emotive sound, all wrapped up in her sultry, honey-soaked vocals. A big advocate for women in music, ‘Get To Love You’ is all about growth as an individual and self-love.

Praised for her natural gift as a songwriter and storyteller, Gaby’s EP follows her journey through the pain of falling in and and out of love, and learning to love herself first. The unreleased title track ‘Get To Love You’ reflects the healing process of losing someone you love, but also finding yourself again. “I found that the most important love is self-love.” Further unreleased tracks ‘Call Me’ and ‘On My Own’ highlight Gaby’s realisation that being alone doesn’t always mean you will be lonely, “I have myself and I am enough, I am happy being with me.”

Speaking of the EP, Gaby says, “Although the journey starts with falling in love with someone, this is just the beginning of how I grew to be the person I am now; alone, happy and I have finally found love for myself as an individual.  I still have me and I am enough. I hope others will resonate with this too and that it helps them not only heal from any pain, but also reminds them not to sacrifice their well-being for others. It is a journey of losing someone but also finding yourself again. I believe that the most important love is self-love and putting your own health and happiness at the forefront.”

Birmingham Born and London based artist Gaby K writes passionate and personal songs that offer an intimate glimpse into her life. Raised on Led Zeppelin, Aretha Franklin, and everything in between, music has always been an important part of her life.
