MILO MERAH RELEASES ‘LINGER’
Praised by Sugababes’ Mutya Buena for his soulful voice, Milo Merah is back with his sophomore single Linger, distributed via AWAL on all streaming platforms on January 25, 2023.
As much of a fan of D’Angelo as James Blake, Tame Impala or Jeff Buckley, the genre- bending artist who grew up on alternative, electronic and R&B music has also been nurturing from a very young age a profound love for poetry that he now pours onto his songs. Following his debut Hidden Desires released last year, the poignant Linger drapes Milo’s richly textured vocals with a melancholic sonic veil produced by AUR3LIAN and Homebodi who created a somber yet elegant canvas for his emotions. What starts as a delicate number scattered with doubts about his relationship, slowly and sadly grows into a stronger ineluctable feeling that they’re reaching the end of the road.
“The song is about my struggle to reconcile a relationship that was broken. I tried to fight for us, clinging onto old memories, but when I looked into her eyes I just knew she didn’t feel the same love anymore. At this point it became a war between my head and heart, Milo Merah confides. I’ve found that when things aren’t working – relationships can get toxic. Those toxic feelings can translate into intense physical intimacy, sometimes leading to a greater sense of loss. In the end, there was just a lingering sense of inevitability that the end was near, but she still left me to linger until I had the courage to say it was over.”
The track will be accompanied with a visualizer to be unveiled at the end of the month, representing his journey of trying to cling onto what they used to be.
After touching the hearts of BBC Radio 1, BBC Introducing, Kiss FM, Reprezent Radio, Spotify, Apple, Amazon Music and even Shy FX, it’s safe to say that Milo Merah’s Linger will not leave your thoughts for a while…
