Luci – Ladies From Los Angeles All About Harmonies
Penetrating harmonies, soothing voices filled up with joyful emotions and healing vibes
When the Luci ladies get together, a magical moment is to be expected.
Their sense of the poetry for songwriting recalls the likes of Caitlin Eadie, their dear friend, also based in Los Angeles, whom we discovered in a previous interview some time ago.
This female trio from Los Angeles does inspire a great delight. Last month, on August 9th , 2018, Luci, releases their debut single, titled “Ashes (Stripped)”, very first one available on all major digital music stores and streaming services.
Their approach to harmony is sharp, singing poetic lyrics, in perfect unisson. All three, they’re breathing peaceful and heart-healing modern melodies, as many tunes your mind wouldn’t hasten to get rid of.
Even though the track feels quite grey and melancholic, Ariana Tibi (guitar, vox), Ashley Maietta (keys, vox) and McKail Seely (guitar, vox) are bringing in an unrivalled warmth in this song, produced by Paul Redel (ZZ Ward, Katie Cole, Jamestown Revival), co-written with Tripp Weir (Cassio Monroe) and featuring guitarist, Mauricio Guerrero Jr. (Gloria Estefan, Phil Collins Little Dreams Foundation Band, Todrick Hall).
“The whole story started brewing after we witnessed the aftermath of a heated argument between our close friend and their significant other,” says Ariana.
The song details a feeling of uncertainty in a relationship and being drawn to the darkness of another person. With phrases like, “I see smoke on the horizon” and “ashes filling up my eyes,” the ladies of Luci explore the crossroads of bated desire and cautionary chaos.
“For me, this song really came together once we started performing it live, which is why we wanted to incorporate that rawness,” says McKail.
“Releasing ’Ashes (Stripped)’ this way was actually a happy accident,” adds Ashley. “The whole idea of putting it out into the world as a stripped-down version was conceived and executed in less than a month, and it’s been incredible to see the reaction it’s getting!
As Tibi, Maietta and Seely are in the midst of creating an album, they continue to write together and travel around the U.S. playing for new audiences.
With the core values of their team being support and togetherness, Luci’s goal is to inspire people to be kind, be
at the ready to help each other, and to encourage other women to follow their passions and ban together in strength.
The Luci Ladies have booked various venues around LA and Southern California (i.e. The Troubadour, The Hotel Cafe, The House of Blues, Room 5, The Federal, Los Globos) and Nashville (i.e. The Listening Room, The Bluebird, The Country) and continue to write, looking forward to releasing an album.
Even though they’re a Folk songwriter trio, you can hear and appreciate their love for Jazz and Gospel music along their heavenly vocals. Such a band recalls female French trio Glossy Sisters, which is all about harmonies too.
