Fur coat, fancy hats, necklace and handkerchief,
Fair-haired lady sipping black coffee, in the mood for Blues.
Her eyes are blinking and shimmering behind dark sunglasses, sometimes,
Asking herself “Why“, deep in her feels.
Love is not always about the gleam and the glam,
Alas, in this wild world of flame.
“You had been the only one for me baby”
She passionately screams with a strong voice that echoes in her highs and lows,
While she thinking out loud, her friends all around.
This lady could have been Keren Botaro, a lady from New York, who can write about love affairs in the style of the 60’s movies and music, and describe raw emotions.
Singer and songwriter, she mastered a deep and charismatic voice, dedicated to Retro Soul and Classic Rock with flavors of Blues and Country.
Plus, she recalls the likes of Lorraine Ellison (Stay With Me) in her songwriting, and other 60’s 70’s great songwriters.
Poet, she also reminds of modern day singers, like Alex Turner (Arctic Monkeys), loyal to Rock Music from the 70’s, giving tribute to the legends of the past, such as David Bowie.
That way, Keren Botaro’s voice and style affected by the Vintage love, are timeless indeed.
The songwriting and the live recording are raw and keeps alive the Retro style.
This is Rocking Soul.
The instrumentation is catchy and minimalist, perfect to enhance Botaro’s voice, giving it the space it needs.
The melodics are mostly trusted to the voice instead of the instruments like the keyboard or the guitar which are rather trusted with the rhythmics.
This November 17th, she released her self-titled EP, Keren Botaro, produced by Uri Kleinman.
Recorded in the Vibromonk Studio in Brooklyn, the band saved the rocking vintage feels in their sound.
Beyond the love for the old school, this kind of recording indicates the potential of their shows.
The video reflects what is to expect once on the stage, indeed.
The debut EP, introduction of a soulful voice to remember with a rocking blues band is available here.
