Cobi Mike: Walking Towards A New Journey
With his guitar dexterity, his accomplished producer’s skills and his genuine voice
Cobi Mike strikes with this track, ‘Walking Through The Fire’ the first single of his solo project.
This project is his official decision to leave the band Gentleman Hall, which has been a great journey.
Indeed, with Cobi’s help, the band did shoot for the stars, catapulted to success
Being awarded a MTV Video Music Award in 2009 and performing on the Billboard Music Awards in 2011.
In 2013, they received placements in Target and Samsung commercials as well as the CW’s 90210 and ABC’s Pretty Little Liars, which is quite an accomplishment.
The dream was far from being over, as 2014 has them to perform alongside the greates: Young The Giant, Cee Lo Green, All American Rejects, One Republic, and Beyonce,
However, now seems to be the time for the young talented artist to walk the steps of his own journey.
His burning desire is to rediscover his voice and share his personal message.
He did reach this goal with the help of Grammy Award-winning engineer Tom Weir (Blondie, Willie Nelson) and an all-star cast of musicians including keyboardist Mia Fitz (Hozier) and drummer Matt Laug (Alanis Morisette, Christina Aguilera).
This what you get in his first single. Expressing different levels of his voice, from the over-expressing,
Screaming the impulsive and burning desire to find his own way (in his musicianship).
This Pop sounding song has something Soul in it, as it communicates an genuine feeling longing for a kind of Freedom.
Besides the lyrics, the production too contributes to the storytelling of his EP, translating the constant idea of moving ahead,
Thanks to the drum tracks mixed with the progressing bass volume:
Talking about the storytelling, here is the whole story of the EP:
The four song EP, features a collection of heartfelt and authentic songs with an emotional rawness.
Combining acoustic and electronic elements, the opening track “Walking Through The Fire” embodies a powerful metaphor of transformation while holding on to hope even in life’s darkest moments. “
We Are Who We Are” showcases Cobi Mike’s knack for composing memorable hooks while “I Don’t Wanna Lose” highlights the singer songwriter’s stunning vocals in an intimate yet frank letter to a lover almost gone.
Perhaps one of the most heartfelt and important tracks on the EP is “First Snow,” which describes a yearning to escape and the profound experience of a wondering heart looking for change.
