Anni has well understood that, so she decided to make a song about it.

Pianinst singer-songwriter from Helsinki, Finland, Anni’s just released a song titled Break Free, playing on her Fender Rhodes.

In this track, the play of the piano keys are really interesting, while Anni’s voice, mesmerizing one, sounds desperately drowning in her thoughts and uncertainties.

The playful transition (“cause anything could happen”) could stand for the mind that ironically plays a trick on you when you lack of self-confidence, and that also knows better, always “second-guessing what [her] heart is saying.”

The ongoing repetition of the lyrics in the pre-chorus make it feel like a mantra you keep saying louder and louder.

What is more, the addition of the percussion lets you picture the torturous struggle it is to break free your mental prison,

Until the release, the rising anthem (Free) that finally announces an everlasting peace of mind.

Anni explains the meaning of her song:

“Our mind is such a funny thing. Sometimes we get so caught up in our thoughts.

We stop trusting ourselves, and start caring too much what if something doesn’t work or what others might think.

Yet confidence is such a game-changer.

If you trust yourself it doesn’t matter whether you want to ask somebody out, find a new job, learn something crazy or totally reboot your life, you can do it. It might not be easy, but it’s possible. 

Whether you think you can, or you can’t, you’re right. So trust yourself. And break free from your limiting beliefs.”
