HENRIKES – VIDEO PREMIERE – Walking By The Streets in Stockholm

As a tribute to her hometown, Stockholm, HENRIKES is releasing a very special visual for this new piece of work.

As an independent female artist on the come up, she released her single, STOCKHOLM, on March 8th, for the International Women’s Day, written with other songwriters (Märta Grauers and Maria Marcus).

Today, May 2nd, she’s unveiling a new layer, a new picture to capture the nature of her music: reminiscence, and happiness. HENRIKES’ sound feels like a contemplation of time. Everything’s slow, aerial and beautiful. This is a music made with passion and nostalgy.

Her previous single, Blackbird really focused on vocal harmonies, and gave a delightful impression of lightful, with a minimalist instrumentation. With STOCKHOLM, the ambient sound of an electric guitar is now supporting her voice. Electronic instrumentation is more present, but still stripped-down. Synth-pop and ethereal vibes are taking place.

The more HENRIKES’ voice rises, the more images pass by.

The video for STOCKHOLM proves it. Created in stop motion, it actually compiles numerous photographs, as many timeless memories lived in the singer’s hometown. As HENRIKES explains:

“To me these photos are memories. What I like about stop motion is that it’s what film really is; photos put together into a sequence. And your memory is often images or sequences put into a context in time and place. There is also contrast in this video. It’s the mixture of happiness and confusion. “

Memories of winters and summers in there, flashes of beautiful landscapes, anecdotes about some of the go-to-places, and other souvenirs of joy in the city… HENRIKES is giving you the thrill for Scandinavia.

HENRIKES grew up in Stockholm, Sweden. She was classically trained vocally, before studying at a more contemporary music school in London. Inspired by artists such as Lykke Li, Lana del Rey, Anna Of The North and film composers such as Hans Zimmer and Javier Navarrete, she began creating her own melodic and filmic arrangements with electronic pop elements. During her time in London she started collaborating with other writers, which eventually led to the release of the single Happy in 2018 with Cosmos Music.
