Solo dancing in slow motion over slow jams
From the shadow to the halo
Self-love and confidence, all you need to feel Proud of Yourself.
Isaiah Donley, aka Sai a 26 years old singer/songwriter living in Los Angeles with Chicago roots. Proud of Yourself is his first single, off of his debut EP, titled Out Of Context, expected for November 16th, 2018.
This track is an uplifting slow-jam, a smooth invitation to dance on your own and celebrate your self: “Gotta be proud of yourself” sounds like the anthem for self-appreciation; unapologetic love for yourself, unbreakable faith in yourself.
Cutting off all kind of negativity, the soothing lyrics get carried away over this downtempo beat and stripped-down production. The keys are setting the mood, and imply joyful emotions, perfect when one is feeling low.
“Artists who were influential to me during this time were The Beatles, Jack Johnson, Lord Huron, Iron and Wine, Bahamas, Toro Y Moi, Mumford & Sons, Young the Giant, etc. I love these artists because of their ability to intertwine the mundaneness of life so beautifully with life’s ups and downs. “
“I have gained inspiration from artists like Kanye West, Frank Ocean, Drake, Khalid, 6Lack, Sam Cooke, The Temptations, and so many others.
I was drawn to these particular genres because of the care-free attitude, the freedom and creativity found in the production, and the musical arrangement. My musical journey has been one of existing on opposite ends of the spectrum only to be inevitably pulled to the middle. These experiences provided me the inspiration needed to create my debut EP entitled “Out of Context”.”
